In photography, a fisheye lens is a very wide-angle lens that takes in a broad, panoramic and uniquely hemispherical image. This lens was originally used to study cloud formation in meteorology. That is why they were called ”whole-sky lenses“. Fisheye lenses are now popular in general photography because of their unique, distorted results.
