Artist Bio

My name is Virginia Raquel Peralta de Furness originally from Cordoba, Argentina and came to the USA with my parents as a small child.  I graduated from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia with a BS in Occupational Therapy and practiced as a certified upper extremity specialist for 11 years.  In conjunction with work as a therapist, I was involved in raising my 4 small boys and studied photography and art at various colleges as the family moved across the United States.  I now reside in Golden, Colorado with my family and do not plan on moving again. Currently I am happily self employed as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist and a Professional Web Designer.

Although my journey in art began with fine art photography, I have continued to explore the many facets of art. I am thrilled to announce that I have completed my Web Design Diploma from the Art Institute of Pittsburg  September 2008 with a 4.0 GPA. I  continue to study photography, web design and digital art independently and through continuing education opportunities. In the spring of 2011 I began exploring oil painting by taking classes/workshops at the Student Art League of Denver.

My new goal is to gain acceptance into the MFA program at Art Academy of San Francisco in either Fine Art Photography or Painting for the fall semester of 2012.  I am in the process of deciding between these two art tracks.

“Photography allows me to express my personal response to real and imagined experiences.  Photographic artists transcend the camera’s purely optical nature in order to be guided by the importance and mystical significance of worldly beauty.”
